South Forty Sign
The South 40. The "Beaverslide Haystacker" was locally designed to meet the needs of ranchers in Montana's Big Hole Valley where high country sub-irrigated meadows produce a wealth of wild hay. The loose hay is put up in big round stacks in the field where teams of horses can be used to get feed to the cattle regardless of heavy snow and sub-zero temperatures. Big Hole Valley is still referred to as "Land of 10,000 Haystacks". Beautiful carving and an interesting display of Montana history. Measures 32 x 16 x 1.5-inches.
